About Garry Warren

Garry Warren has been the owner of Southside World Travel (a member of the Express Travel Group) since 2009.

Originally established in 1991 and based in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire, Southside World Travel was located in a retail shop in Gymea. However, with today’s ever changing world, we decided to change our business model. In March 2020 we restructured as Home Based | Mobile Travel Agents.

Southside World Travel’s reputation has been built on strong foundations of unrivalled experience, knowledge and customer service. With a passion for travel, he and his team are committed to creating the best travel experiences for you.

Experience

After decades of experience in the Hospitality, Travel & Tourism industry, Garry brings a wealth of experience to Southside World Travel.

With training & qualifications in business management, accountancy, marketing and sales, Garry was appointed Hotel Manager at Hotel Cronulla (Northies) at the age of 22, the youngest hotel manager ever in NSW (according to records of the Australian Hotels Association).

After 8 years in the Hotel industry he took time out to travel Europe and the United States of America. Whilst on a Contiki Tour, Garry was head hunted by Contiki. He was trained up and appointed as a Tour Director. What a fantastic experience!

Garry returned home and with his family, purchased the Bradbury Inn (from Hotel Manager to Hotel Owner/Director). This change provided many opportunities to travel and broadened his experience. It was at this time he fell in love with scuba diving. Garry continued to develop his skills as a diver and after several years achieved the rating of PADI Course Director (Instructor Trainer – top 1% of the worlds diving educators).

Several years later, Garry decided to combine his love of scuba diving with his other passion ‘Photography’. He relocated to the beautiful Whitsundays to teach scuba diving full-time (including Underwater Photography). It was a fantastic lifestyle and there were plenty of opportunities for more travel. Garry also achieved his diploma in Photography.

It was time to move back home to be closer to family and friends. Garry once again became involved with the family hotel business. In 2006/2007 the hotels were sold. One thing led to another and in 2009, Garry purchased Southside World Travel. The perfect opportunity to combine his love of travel and photography.

Garry completed several courses within the travel industry including airfare ticketing & reservation systems, cruising, planning travel itineraries (domestic & international) and back office management systems. During Covid-19 lockdown Garry also completed training and became an Aussie Travel Specialist.

He has travelled extensively throughout 6 of the 7 continents (Antarctica is on his bucket list!) and loves to share his hard-earned knowledge and comprehensive experience with you.
